05 Aug Best Vegan Road Trip Destinations in Victoria
One of the best things about going on a new adventure is finding new places to eat! We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, we’re so spoiled for choice here in Melbourne and Victoria, but there’s always somewhere new to explore!
If you’re looking to hit the road or step away for a weekend, these are our favourite road-trip worthy venues in Victoria.
Known for it’s iconic part played in the Gold Rush, Bendigo has been the sleepy far away town… but not anymore!
Filled to the brim with art exhibitions and amazing cultural experiences, it’s worth making your way up here for a weekend.
And our favourite place to fill our tummies? Adam and Eve sits in The Golden Square, serving up healthy meals for breakfast and lunch.
The go-to’s for locals are the smoothie bowls and shakes, but if you’ve got time to spare, settle in amongst the cushions for the big brekky or loaded mac n’ cheese.
Further up the road (and almost into NSW) lies the sweetest cafe this side of the river.
The Sweet Meadow is a little cottage cafe that just feels like home. The food is picture perfect, and completely whole-foods plant-based.
You won’t find any nasties here which makes it well worth the adventure.
It’s no secret that the Mornington Peninsula has great food and wine – but what’s even better is that so much of it is vegan!
With some of the best food starting just an hour from Melbourne in Frankston, it might take you a while to work your way through them…

Geelong and Anglesea
On the other side of the bay lies the beautiful Surf Coast and gateway to the Great Ocean Road.
Make sure you fill up on all the great vegan food before you set off at Faceplant Cafe in Geelong. Superb coffee, tasty food and they even do vegan cheese platters.
And if you’re looking for something a little more unique, check out Digger’s Vegie Kitchen. After seeing the first-hand effects of an unhealthy diet, owner and health coach Anita makes sure everything served here nourishes you inside and out.
Driving away from the city and up to warmer weather up at Lakes Entrance is a common pilgrimage for most Melburnians.
And until now, the drive has been pretty bare of any good vegan food. Take a turn off to Chelle’s Soulfoods Cafe in Officer for an unsuspecting plant-based feast.
Savoury items like burgers and toasties will fill the hole, and you can grab some sweet treats to take away to make the drive go that little bit quicker.
